The selection of work for the first ever edition of The Atrium is particularly interested in examining fragments – as part of a larger whole, necessitating close attention & care.
Artworks - as fragments of an incredibly dense, complex, and rich cultural ecosystem - do not sit idle. They refuse unanimity. The artists’ subjectivities leave traces; their marks and thoughts like roots, branching into communities, propositions, pleasantries, and hardships.
Each fragment, every glimpse and every trace of these artists’ lives informs the larger image of the exhibition theory. A theory based on mutually assured support. We too, like fragments of a larger puzzle, like the hyphae as part of a larger living network, work in partnership with our artists and the conditions of our locality. And in our microcosm, we found a support system of immeasurable value.
